What fees apply when withdrawing money abroad?

Updated 8 days ago

You can withdraw up to £200 in cash fee-free while abroad in a 30-day rolling period. For anything over £200, a 2% fee will be applied.

This is the case whether you take out one cash withdrawal for over £200 or multiple cash withdrawals over the 30-day period which add up to more than £200.

The fee will be taken from your Zopa bank account, typically 1 or 2 business days after you make a cash withdrawal that puts you over the £200 total.

Here’s an example:

Over a 30-day period, you make the following withdrawals:

  1. £220

  2. £50

  3. £50

You’ll therefore have withdrawn a total of £120 over the fee-free amount. For this, you’ll pay a total fee of £2.40, which is 2% of £120.

This will be charged per transaction, so that’s:

  1. 2% of £20, equalling £0.40

  2. 2% of £50, equalling £1.00

  3. 2% of £50, equalling £1.00

How rolling limits work

This fee is calculated based on your withdrawals over a period of 30 days. Your limit resets 30 days after each transaction, not at a fixed time each month.

Please note, we’re not currently applying this fee. We’ll let you know by email or in the app once it’s introduced.
